About the Course

One of the greatest challenges facing the Church today is the missing generation of young adults. Traditionally, American young adults followed in the religious footsteps of their parents and grandparents, but today that is not the case. In an effort to reverse this trend, the Archdiocese of Detroit Office of Engagement hosted a conference to equip and empower parish leaders with practical strategies for attracting, receiving, and engaging young adults in our parish communities. The conference was aimed at those who work on the front line of ministry (front office staff, clergy, RCIA coordinators, marriage ministry coordinators, infant baptism coordinators, etc.). The keynote speaker was Pete Burak, Director of id, the young adult outreach of Renewal Ministries and founder of the Millennial Church Conference. Pete was joined by Anita Houghton, Associate Director of Engagement and Patrick Howard, Coordinator of Young Adult and Campus Ministry from the Department of Evangelization and Missionary Discipleship.

The keynote presentations from the conference have been bundled into this online course to enable parish leaders to do staff training and continue the discussion on how to attract and retain young adults in their parish communities.
